Hold Hands Uganda
Uganda is called the "Pearl of Africa", but it is one of the poorest countries in the world. Many people in Uganda are starving and children have little chance of an education or even a regular life.
"Hold Hands Uganda" is a non-profit organization that supports children in Uganda with passion and commitment. We are pleased to have supported this commitment with a contribution on our part.
In February 2019, school started for around 300 children for the first time. The new school building had already been completed by this time, financed by donations. In order to be able to reliably supply all students with hot meals on a daily basis, an additional school kitchen was built as a separate, free-standing building. In addition to the necessary technical equipment, the cooking utensils as well as sufficient crockery and cutlery had to be procured. At times, heavy rain had delayed the construction work, but things continued steadily. Now the new school kitchen could be put into operation.
The construction of buildings in Uganda, of course, looks very different compared to construction work in Europe. Construction machinery is very rarely used in the countryside. Manpower is the order of the day. Much is simpler and usually only purpose-oriented, but often the necessary funds are not available to even realize projects. We could help.
We documented the construction progress and in the course of this we also took on sponsorships for some school children. The construction of a school kitchen in Uganda, shown in telling pictures.
